Unlike liquid-filled transformers, they use epoxy resin or varnish for insulation and rely on natural or forced air convection for cooling. With voltage ratings typically up to 36 kV, they are commonly used in renewable energy systems and critical infrastructure where fire hazards and oil leaks must be avoided.
